Getting into a stranger's car at one in the morning is a question of trust, not of travel.
So here is the man: Vangelis, born and driving on this island, two Mercedes vans, a phone that is answered at every hour of the night, and a habit of photographing the sunset from the roadside while he waits.
Every photograph on this website was taken by him, on the job. The caldera at dusk, the barrels in the winery cellar, the red cliffs above the beach, the two vans parked side by side — that is not a stock library, it is a work diary.
Which is also why the pickup times on this site are calculated from the real sunset over Oia. On Santorini, the light is the timetable.
The name that keeps coming up is the driver’s.

Vaggelis was amazing! When he first picked us up from the ferry during a heatwave, he had bottles of water for us, helped us with our luggage, and made sure we were all comfortable. He is very knowledgeable about the area, and gave us great recommendations of places to see and things to do. We booked with him a couple more times while we were staying in Santorini and were so happy that we did! Wonderful service, super helpful, and extremely kind. So glad to have met him!

Vaggelis and his crew were amazing with my family while staying in Pyrgos. He arrived early at the airport and waited an extended period to pick us up. We had no phone service to contact him and would have been stranded had he not. Our flight was late and we were slower than expected making our way to him. Most people would have left us high and dry. Throughout our 5 days he and his staff never failed to exceed our expectations, even refusing the tips we offered him, understanding that we had already spent a fortune on our trip. Instead, he treated us like family. We were delighted by his pleasant disposition and his kindness was beyond refreshing. We hope to return the favor some day.
